The questions campus panels ask freshers
Panels ask the same twenty questions in a different order. The students who get offers are not the ones with the best answers; they are the ones who answer in a structure the panel can follow.
The ten HR questions
- Tell me about yourself. Course, one project or internship, one thing you want to do next. 60 seconds.
- Why this company? One fact about the company and one link to your work.
- Your strengths and weaknesses. One real weakness with what you are doing about it.
- A challenge you faced in a project. Situation, what you did, what happened.
- Where do you see yourself in three years? A skill, not a title.
- Are you willing to relocate? Decide before the interview.
- A time you worked in a team. Your part, named.
- Why should we hire you? Two things you can do on day one.
- What do you know about the role? Read the posting.
- Any questions for us? Have two.
Technical questions by course
Software: explain your project's architecture, a bug you fixed, difference between a list and a tuple, what an index does in a database, how you would reverse a linked list. Data: a SQL join question, what a p-value means, how you cleaned a dataset. Commerce: golden rules of accounting, GST slabs, a journal entry, what Tally does. BBA/MBA: the 4 Ps for a product you like, how you would launch a campaign with a small budget, a case about falling sales. HR roles: how you would screen 200 résumés, what onboarding should include.
A structure that works for any answer
Point, example, result. State the point in one sentence, give one example with a number, say what happened. Under 90 seconds. Fillers drop when you know the structure.
Practise with follow-ups
Reading answers is not practice. Wishire's AI mock interview asks these questions out loud, follows up on what you said, and shows your filler words and weak moments after.
Questions people ask
- How long should answers be?
- 60 to 90 seconds. Longer answers lose the panel; shorter ones look unprepared.
